Mike How (Producer/Executive Director)

Mike made his professional stage debut at the age of 16 at Theatr Clwyd, playing ‘A bit of Buxtehude’ on the recorder in Durrenmatt’s The Physicists in 1980. After gaining a degree in Performing Arts from Leicester De Montford University in 1986 Mike began his career proper, specializing in street theatre. As a street performer, he has amused and amazed all over the world, from Austria to Australia, from South Sheilds to Singapore. Mike is a regular street performer at Glastonbury Festival for the Performing Arts and in 2017 was voted best non-music act in an online festival-goers poll.

Mike has also produced comedy theatre and cabaret notably The Royal National Theatre of Fools in Peckham, London; Cabaret Rinse, the world’s first cabaret raffle with recycled prizes, and his award-winning one-man comedy interactive show ‘Brain Rinse’.

In regular theatre, he has worked with such luminaries as Sir Alan Ayckbourn CBE at The Stephen Joseph Theatre and broke box office records at The Croydon Warehouse theatre.

Mike is Artistic Director of ‘Urban Elephant’ an exciting and radical initiative that combines the best in professional street theatre, with local community groups and schools to create a vibrant and diverse community street arts festival. Urban Elephant will be lighting up the streets of Elephant and Castle and Walworth in South London on 29th, 30th, and 31st July 2022.

Grass Under Foot is born from a long-standing desire to make a change as well as making people laugh.
